A court was shown shocking CCTV footage of the moment a woman deliberately drove her car onto a pavement before mowing down a mum-of-two after a row over a man.

Bonny McGuire was sent to prison for more than three years over the attack which was captured on security cameras outside an off-licence in Leeds.

Leeds Crown Court was shown the recording of McGuire driving her Vauxhall Corsa into the back of the victim as she spoke on her mobile phone.

McGuire was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the incident on November 22 last year.

Prosecutor Christopher Smith told the court: "It is through nothing more than remarkable good luck that the victim of this offending was not seriously injured."

McGuire carried out the attack after being confronted by three women as she sat in her car outside the store on Foundry Approach, Harehills.

Mr Smith said one of the women was angry with McGuire as she believed the defendant had started a relationship with her ex-boyfriend.

McGuire pulled out a penknife during the course of the argument before driving away.

She then did a U-turn in the road and drove back to where the women were.
