Man fights for life after Leeds ring road hit-and-run

A PEDESTRIAN is fighting for his life in hospital after a hit and run accident on Leeds inner ring road.

The 30-year-old man, from York, was hit at 6.10am on Saturday by a Nissan Micra, which drove off.

The car involved was found in the Armley area and a 28-year-old Bradford man was arrested.

The pedestrian was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where his condition was described as critical but stable.

The accident happened on the flyover section of the westbound Inner Ring Road, near to Leeds International Swimming Pool. The road was closed until midday on Saturday.

The arrested man has now been released on bail pending further enquiries.
